Father of Obi Mikel left after removal

The father removed of John Obi Mikel to Chelsea was released after his kidnappers were located by the police in Nigeria.

Michael Obi had been abducted on August 12 at his home in his work in the Centre of the Nigerian city of Jos, but it was found on Monday in the North of Kano city. Police arrested suspects in the abduction.

Agents of his son, SEM, issued a statement on Twitter. "SEM are pleased to confirm that earlier today more Michael Obi called his family to inform them that he had been released by his captors," it read.

"SEM waited until now to disclose this information to ensure that Michael was safe." John Obi Mikel would like to thank everyone in Nigeria, family & friends, Chelsea FC fans & its agents for their total support during this terrible period. OBI Senior told the BBC that he had been kidnapped at Jos transferred to Kano. "I am very stressed," said.

BBC reporter Yusuf Ibrahim Yakasai stated that Michael Obi face showed signs of beatings endured during his ordeal.

Mikel has continued to play for Chelsea in the disappearance of his father, appearing in the first League of Barclays of Blues opener at Stoke before theirhome 2-1 victory for West Brom on Saturday.
