Copa Sud: Ecuador's Universitaria progress

Liga Deportiva Universitaria of Ecuador clinched a 1-0 win over Venezuela'sYaracuyanos to book a berth in the Copa Sudamericana second round.


Edgardo Bauza's Liga, who won the title in 2009, celebrated a 2-1 aggregate winand will now meet another Venezuelan side, Trujillanos, in the next phase.


The goal came in the 19th minute when Neicer Reasco crossed the ball from theright and Enrique Vera headed home.


Yaracuyanos goalkeeper Alexis Angulo was named man of the match for his effortsin stopping further inroads.


Bauza said: "In general, we played a good game. We are improving every day. Weplay better every day.


"In the last 10 minutes Yaracuyanos attacked us with long balls only. In thefirst half we had more opportunities to score. In the second half, we playedbetter football."


In Paraguay, hosts Nacional clinched qualification by beating San Jose ofBolivia 1-0 at the Estadio Defensores del Chaco.


Silvio Torales netted the only goal of the match in the fifth minute, enough todetermine the tie following a goalless first leg.
